Volunteer Impact:
The A Brush With Kindness program is a neighborhood outreach program within Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity that refurbishes homes of low-income residents, especially those experiencing challenging circumstances such as single parent families, advanced age, disability or poor health. This program helps homeowners remain in safe and affordable homes.
Skill Qualifications:
There are no minimum skill requirements.
Age Requirements:
For safety reasons, children under the age of 16 are not allowed on site. All volunteers under the age of 18 must have adult supervision from a parent or adult friend. Youth ages 16-17 are required to have one adult for up to four youth.
Time Commitment: Middle
Regular volunteers work for an entire day on a site, once per week. Crews generally work from 9:00 am-4pm. Volunteers are asked to make an initial commitment of at least 2 full days per month.
Training & Supervision:
All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation session. Volunteers will be supervised by our ABWK staff or our AmeriCorps members.
Once the new volunteer has joined the crew on site, s/he will report to the regular Crew Leader and will move from site to site with that specific crew. The Crew Leader reports to the Site Supervisor, a Habitat employee.
